The Sacrament of Baptism

For Catholics, the Sacrament of Baptism is the first step in a lifelong journey of commitment and discipleship. Whether we are baptized as infants or adults, Baptism is the Church's way of celebrating and enacting the embrace of God.

Baptism is celebrated once per month.  Diocesan policy requires attendance at a baptismal preparation course.  Please contact the rectory office for details.  Pre-registration is required for courses.  Courses may be taken prior to the birth of the baby.

  Qualifications to be a godparent:

  • A confirmed Catholic who has received the Holy Eucharist, and is living a life befitting the role of sponsor
  • If married, living in a marriage considered valid according to the law of the Church,
  • One who is not under a canonical penalty,
  • One who is not a parent of the person being baptized,
  • One who is at least sixteen years of age
